If you could have 3 guns only!

What would they be and why? Price not being an issue since you are selling the rest of your collection to keep 3. It doesn't have to be 3 guns you currently own, you can acquire them in the future.

This is a spin on what are you if you have 15 guns thread. Psshh. 15 guns should be the minimum requirement to even create a forum account.

Having 3 guns only means you have to consider carefully your choices. Would Cal.Bar keep his Bar, and Bren as part of his 3 for example? Would you keep your vacuum sealed new in box, 3" Colt Python with a serial number of 1? - it's one of your 3 and you can't shoot it if you keep it in the box! Handguns are are also hard to, if you want to conceal but use a Glock 34 for competition shooting, etc.

    I'll start:

    ARX 200 (When it's made)

    Pros:
    -.308 Round
    -Easiest caliber conversions
    -Fully ambi controls
    -Takes easy to find magazines

    Cons:
-Much harder to get ahold of replacement parts and accessories
    -.308 accessibility vs 5.56/.223 ammo.
    -Kind of ugly

    Benelli M4

    Pros:
    -Proven reliability

    Cons:
-Tube fed versus mag feed like a Saiga 12

    Wilson Combat Super Sentinel

    Pros:
-Best firepower for size at with .38 Super
-Ton of concealed carry options due to size
-One of the best looking guns ever made

    Cons:
    -Super .38 ammo access
-Sub Compacts not as fun as Compacts and larger for range use.

        .22LR Rifle. I prefer my Marlin 99.

        PROS:
        Lightweight, easy to carry ammo.
Everyone in the family can handle it.

        CONS:
        Finding it.

        .223/5.56 chambered AR styled rifle.

        PROS:
Modular system makes finding parts easy and interchangeable.

        CONS:
Not the best hunting rifle platform.

        .38 Revolver

        PROS:
        Plentiful ammo.
Simple action less likely to fail.

        CONS:
Not as cool as a semi-auto.

You said three, and those are mine. I, personally, would include a fourth, and that would be a Armsel Striker shotgun.

          Two SCAR 16s and 1 SCAR 17.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

            Glock 17
            Remington 870
            AR-15

G17 is light, reliable, requires little maintenance, fun and economical to shoot.
870 in 12 gauge is versatile, cheap to shoot, and reliable.
AR-15 is light, reliable, easy to maintain, fun to shoot.

Parts and ammo for all three are easy to find. All three are adequate self defense tools. If I could add a fourth, it would be a bolt action .308

AR15 - proven platform and widest availability of parts.
Glock 19 - Needs no explanation

Edited post to clarify it doesn't have to be what you currently own.

I wouldn't get a Wilson Super Sentinel in .38 just because you give up so many other guns. If it was just one handgun only then it would be it.

Would you take a Glock over a Kimber, Les Baer, Nighthawk, etc if you were limited to just 3 guns?

AR Platform Stainless Steel Billet lower with; .22lr upper, 7.62x39 upper, 6.5 upper, 6.8spc upper, 5.56 upper, .50bmg upper, .300 blackout upper, and .50 beowulf upper, .458 Socom upper. And I'm sure I missed some.

My Colt 70's series full house custom.

Remington 870 of some form. Probably the highest end stainless steel version of a rare unobtainium type I could find. Not sure, but there has to be something odd that will last forever and shoot well.

(You could potentially swap the Remington out with a form of the best possible Beretta semi-automatic 12ga. If I had to swap something out for long guns only, I may give up the pistol for a hand-built upper end bolt gun of your flavor of caliber.)
