I was using a 30 cal. bore snake on my M1 Garand and my Mosin. It was nearly impossible to pull it through. I had to wrap the cord first anf then the body around a small hammer handle to get it out. It's been a while since I used it. I didn't have any problem with the .22 BS in my AR uppers. Does the BS act differently as it gets dirty? Mine doesn't appear to be real dirty but I just thought I would see if this kind of thing happens.

did you have a little CLP on it?...as a trade for a glock 43. wtf guys, wtf.Originally posted by m---------------1Bump... also interested in 1911 for trade -
The short answer is: Yes.
The bore snake I had for my shotgun would get "puffed up" and become very difficult to pull through the barrel. I stopped using it since discovering a better way to clean my barrel.
My other bore snake for my AR-15 on the other hand, is a lot easier to pull through.
So depending on the bore snake for the particular caliber, it may get very difficult to pull through. You would want to put some CLP on it to avoid exerting too much torque on it and snapping the pulling string off.Comment

No, smaller ones like .223 and .22 give Mr problems.

I got myself a bag of those painter's rags, you can buy these by the pound from places like Home Deport or Lowes. Cut these into strips, wrap around a bore brush and ram the thing through the barrel. Very easy to get my barrel clean that way.Comment

Don't use bore snakes, and you'll live a way happier life. Its a bonafide pita if you get one stuck or snap one off in your bore. If you use them long enough, it will happen eventually. Do yourself a favor and use your bore snake as a back up shoe lace or belt.Comment

Look at the leading end of your snake. Make sure the end is tightly wrapped/wound to the pull cord. If there is a big fat end that could fold/ball up, that could be your issue.
I've never had an issue with a boresnake, with any caliber. Yes, you do need to apply some oil or clp on the leading end of the snake.Comment
