What Skills Should We Train And Practice?

According to the Kleck data firearms are used about 3 million times a year to protect lives and property . His data indicates 99 % of time a shot is not required .
I like the idea have having persons think about what language and especially the tone of voice to use when confronted with a situation where your required to diffuse the situation. Don't get me wrong, there are times when you need plug the the person .
    Good article .

You must respect your students. Rodger that.

When time and resourses are limited, then it's administrative loading and unloading so the student doesn't shoot himself. Next I'd make sure he has or can make the pistol ready for the street so at least he can put lead in front of him when needed.

When resources and time are plenty, the student doesn't get one second of my time unless I know he is committed to safe gun handling.

If the OP wants to construct a firearms lesson plan using focus group techniques then the student's firearms prowess should be equal or superior to the prowess of the instructor.
