Really cool self-guided bullets a reality!

Anybody see this article? Sorry if it is a dube but I didn't see this posted already. 50 cal bullets that have a optical guidence and self correct for weather and other adverse conditions successfully tested by DARPA.

Gotta assume they use the 50BMG standard, so they are already banned here in California and they are not even on the market yet! Still, pretty cool that we can actually do this now. Right out of the 1984 Tom Selleck movie Runaway!

WTF are you talking about? 50BMG ammunition is not banned in CA unless it happens to be tracer, API, etc.

Without reading the article (link isn't working for me - probably my internet connection), I will go out on a limb and say this is old news. If this is the project I think it is, one of my 50s was used for preliminary testing prior to the company bidding on the DoD contract. If it is the same project, it was initially developed by a calgunner (who shall remain un named) in California and tested in California. This ammunition is 100% California legal but, you'll never see it on the civilian market because, it's too expensive and requires some extra support equipment. Besides that, last time I knew, details are still on a need to know basis.
