One in the chamber at home while asleep?

Being that I am a sleep walker, I have always trained racking the slide and shooting. Obviously at home I don't actually practice by really shooting, but at the range I do.

I just wanted some thoughts especially if there are others who sleep walk but leave one in the chamber whlle sleeping. To me it's easy enough to pull the trigger where racking the slide I may not be able to do while sleep walking.

Well, first i hope you are alright and don't get hurt.

Maybe have the pistol empty chamber, in a level 3 holster.

    Good Luck

Thanks. It happens very infrequent. Usually I wake up just standing, looking at a wall. LOL. So far I have never hurt myself, at least not yet. (KNOCK ON WOOD) LOL

I have the same issue with occasional sleep walking. The gun I have near the bed is a 1911 too, so not terribly forgiving if you have it locked and cocked and zombie me touches the trigger. I opt to keep my chamber empty since I don't want to deal with the potential of an accidental discharge by decocking or halfcocking the thing

Might consider a gun that disengages the trigger if a mag is not inserted so you could keep it partially ejected and not have to worry as much about an accidental. The very reason I've been considering swapping out my hi point as my bedside gun... But I just love those night sights >

My son sleep walks, I have never seen him pick anything up. He just walks around in a daze.

When I used a revolver for home defense, I would stick it in a drawer, barely opened so I would need to think a little bit to access it. Being a wake was no issue and at that time I never had a AD while sleep walking. I remember it only happened once in a five year period and I simply woke up looking at the bedroom window.

I think I do just the same. Again I have been lucky to never hurt myself.

As long as you leave the seat down, you won't get in trouble.

I sleep walk on occasion. Years ago I woke up with a revolver in my hand standing in the bathroom so I quit sleeping with a revolver under my pillow.

I keep one in the chamber of a 1911 but I keep it in a holster.

Glad you didn't squeeze the trigger.

Maybe one of those fancy lock boxes where you need to press the combo with your fingers.

I keep my pistols in the same fashion

                            Holster- condition 1
                            Out of holster- condition 3

Sleep walking did not enter into my equation

They say that you do what you do when you sleep walk, as you do what you do do when you are awake

What if you are so good at racking the slide while you are awake, that you rack the slide while to sleep walk...??

In that case... what difference does it make? - You are still going to have one in the chamber.
