From what I've read, it's one the best. It's also the only "gunsmith school" in California last I heard. But be warned, it's also very expensive!

I've read some about it in the past and the materials, tools & guns they require will cost several thousand dollars plus whatever it costs just to attend and if you're not local, consider the cost of moving and such. It's an investment.

For any FFL, you would still have to fill out & submit all the required paperwork, pay all fees, pass all background checks, and all the other red tape the ATF requires (such as business license, residence or storefront requirements, firearm storage requirements, etc...). Oh, and wait "X" amount of days (upwards of 60-90 days last I checked)...

They don't make it easy, quick or cheap.

i realize its not easy quick or cheap, but assuming you have your ducks in a row, do they ever deny people that would otherwise be able to own guns?

              lassen cost

Aprox 43 firearms and over $1000 in the tool box. So far I am lucky 36 firearms none over 500 including all fees and taxes. I will start next month at lassen.

Lassen college. I went for 2 weeks, summer classes. Take your 2 week vacation there some year, get an idea what a real gunsmithing school is. Do you want to be a smith, or just a parts swapper? I don't think you'll learn that much watching a video. Maybe enough to PREP you to go to a real school. I seriously studied AGI's video course on the Rem 11-87. Know what their trigger group repair instruction consisted of? "We don't recommend disassembly of the trigger group" WTF? I thought we were studying to become a gunsmith and if a gs can't fix a trigger group WHO CAN? So this is a case of getting what you are willing to sacrifice for.

eta: maybe I should elaborate a bit.

From attending a class, you benefit from the attendance of multiple students, who have various guns, tools, and insight than you. One student may have a malfunction that you'd never have seen otherwise. Or may ask a question you wouldn't have thought of. The teacher may go off on a tangent seemingly irrelevant to today's lesson, that you may find invaluable in later addressing a problem you may never have considered otherwise. You will have access to tools and equipment that the average student won't have at home to get hands-on experience with. Will a video or online class teach you something? Yes, absolutely. Is it even close to what you get at a top notch gunsmithing school? I can't begin to see how that's possible.
