    Yep
The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

If you have to ask the same hashed out question, don't bother

I've lost track of all the 'ghost gun' & SSE exemptions bills, rosters, micro-stamping, yadda yadda. Just looking for a simple yes or no.

Some people would rather waste their time writing "dupe" or some other insulting reply then help. Its just something we all deal with here.

The "ignore" feature works for me and the list grows bigger everyday.

Good luck with your pistol. You might want to head over to the handgun forum and read up on it.

It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

There is no simple "yes or "no" answer to be had.

We have hashed this one well past the point of death, and nothing has changed in last couple of iterations.

              Here's the bottom line:

              1) If you accept the premise that you can "manufacture" a dimensionally compliant single-shot handgun from an 80% lower (refer to PC 32100(b)) and then "convert" the weapon to fire semi-auto (in a manner analogous to the SSE conversions done by FFL's on commercially manufactured weapons), then your answer is "yes", it is still legal.

              2) The problem is that your friendly prosecutor is not bound to view it the same way. They are free to argue that you "manufactured" the firearm all of the way to being a semi-auto (irrespective if it was a single-shot at one point in the process). This is different from the commercial form of SSE. If he convinces the jury on the point, you could be convicted of manufacturing an unsafe handgun in violation of PC 32000. This argument suggests that "no", it is not still legal.

Your answer is really dependent on your assumptions.

I'm not aware of any prosecutions having been commenced under this logic, but then I haven't seen the current level of political rhetoric over "ghost guns" at any time in the past.

The whole point will likely become moot on January 1. There is currently a bill working its way through the legislature that would remove the SSE option for semi-auto pistols. So far it hasn't met any significant opposition and the governor has stated an intent to sign it.

UPDATE - It looks like the bill passed out of the Legislature today and is on the way to the Governor.

If you build a man a fire, you'll keep him warm for the evening. If you set a man on fire, you'll keep him warm for the rest of his life.
