    Home Alarm Recommendations?

I apologize if this is the wrong forum. Moderators, please feel free to move it to a more appropriate forum if needed.

After hearing about what happened to Chris (QuarterBoreGunner), I'm thinking about getting a burglar alarm. Anyone out there know of a good, reliable, trustworthy alarm company in the silicon valley?

If you get this service, just make sure your local PD will actually show up if the alarm does go off. Fremont PD won't anymore.

Hmm..although, I wonder if Fremont PD would respond if they know you have a collection of firearms.. may make them look bad if they knowingly didn't respond to a burglary at a home where firearms would potentially be put on the street. I know FFLs get "special" treatment by local law enforcement due to the nature of the certification.

I doubt calling any PD in the Bay Area and telling them you have a lot of firearms is going to end up good. You will get attention from the Police, just not the kind you were hoping for.

I would prefer not to advertise that I have firearms in the house. That's one of the reasons I'm looking for a trustworthy alarm company... if there is such a thing? During the installation of the alarm, I have no doubt that the installers will see the large gun safe in the garage and the smaller gun safe in the master bed room.

I don't necessarily agree. In fact, I am in the process of applying for a type 01 FFL and have talked to Fremont and they are very helpful. I started with the Chief and he passed me on to a detective and the person I've talked to has been nothing but helpful. I also communicated with the Chief from Newark PD and didn't get any sort of negative actions as a result. Possibly I've just gotten lucky with the individuals I dealt with and so my perception is skewed a bit.

Key is you are applying for an FFL.

i can see it now calling the local police and letting them know you have guns...

                        call:

                        police; hello
you; i have guns lots of them...
police; "cutting you off" we have ten squad cars coming to you right now.
                        you; but that...
police; cutting you off..again please remain calm, do nothing rash, have your hands up in the air, and do exactly as the officer says to do.
                        you; but...
police out side; on bull horn come out of the house with your hands in the air!
                        you; ****......

                        sound about right??

                        .
                        big gun's...i love big gun's

Google ADT sucks or similar terms of disatisfaction with the company of choice.

I found ADT less than stellar. Bay Alarm is really hit or miss. Brinks has a much better rep and service.
