I made this thread to see what it was worth. This is a forum to help people and for people to seek assistance. I dont understand why people have to bash threads or be a smart a**. I am curious myself what this one is worth. An eight inch barrel sounds interesting.

So Python Gurus, what's it worth?

Are eight inch barrels any/much more accurate that a 4 or 6?

its worth whatever your greed asks for

Google the weapon and add "for sale"..you'll quickly get current listings all over the country...job done...

so yeah...asking here is pretty much a greed check..with photos now.....

if you REALLY want to know what its worth you can find out in a few seconds on Google

In Cali in good shape I'd start at around 2k and wait to see how it goes from there. If it was a 2" or 4" you could ask around $2500 and probably get it buy 8" aren't as popular.

I see that your Python has two pins in the front sight so it's an older model as the later versions went with one pin. This adds value. Your Python is sporting black rubber Pachmayr grips, this lessens the value as the period correct walnut stocks are by themselves going for $400.00 a pair and up for a decent set. Your rubber Pachs are selling for around $15/20 bucks. Good clean, non-checking/flaking nickel plating is quite sought after-you be the judge on that one. Being that it is currently in California also adds to the value-Guys, don't let this beauty get sold out of state.
OP, go to coltforum.com as they have a dedicated sub-forum on the Pythons where folks ask for and receive value all the time. Pay no attention to the haters here but please TRY to sell it here in CA.
My 6" B STS. See in the second photo that when you remove the rubber Pachmayr full wraparound grip and install the Colt factory walnut grips, the fluted backstrap jumps out at you! Hidden and now exposed jewelry at it's best!

l'd first go to gunbroker and look at recently completed sales for the same item in the same config/condition (discount for the grips, etc.). That would give me a baseline OUTSIDE CA as CA will add a premium since we can't ship in (unless you do a SAE - single action exemption and that's not as clean/easy/quick as SSE and no one wants to work on a Python). Come up with a swag number (start a bit high) and then step it down until the market bites.
