If you asked me "How much would a super durable small device that 'trips' at certain #s pressure dialed in from 1-8lbs within an ounce cost I'd guess that you couldn't find one that does LESS than 10th of a oz accuracy and it would cost about $20 for an all metal made in USA model.

I'm also thinking that soon some gun maker(probably German) will come out with a(nonCA gun grabber driven) 'electronic trigger'(same finger pull, just E-guts) that will be used, then outlawed, for Olympic 22lr plinking, then be outlawed for other 'traditional' matches for the same reason "traction control" was outlawed for race cars.

It will be proven reliable enough so that particular issue wont be a factor for those who believe in math (discounting the threat of electromagnetic pulse attack, but IIRC that can be 'armored' against).

Probably the biggest beef that gunowners would have would be reliability. Hell, lots of people hate lasers & red dots. Can't have batteries going dead in the middle of a firefight!

You would need electronic components that could live with recoil, dirt, carbon (conductive) oil & solvents.

You crazy, can't even buy a cheap set of box wrenches for that and we aren't even talking about precision with those... How much does a cheap foreign torque wrench cost that has wild variability and is unrepeatable? Would you say $20? No, that would be about $40...

FYI, guess you missed the NRA American Rifleman magazine several months ago. Remington came out with a rifle with electronic trigger years ago. Turns out people like having tactile feedback instead of "on/off" triggers. They also hate when the batteries in their rifle die.

I got a Pelican(made in USA) miniflash light rated to 500ft and OKed for use in 'explosive environments' (fully sealed) that cost $12.

I've worked for companies with pin-nailers that seem to have very good triggers that don't cost big bucks and are plenty good for 10s of thousands of pulls. Likewise, most power tools got good cheap triggers, including variable speed and "dial a speed".

I've noticed even cheaper drills can have very good variable/dial triggers, and they work for years in conditions that would make even the grubbiest gun owners shudder.

I'd like to see a power tool maker or some other 'fresh face' take a wack at making a gun trigger without lots of preconceived notions and taboos.


I got a sweet MADE IN SWITZERLAND Bosch 1/2" drill/hammer with a super sweet variable trigger that is my 'go to' drill for tricky metal drilling. "Trigger Group" DID blow and cost $35 a few years back, then blew again for another $35, but totally unrelated to 'trigger'. It just does that when "flogging it" drilling concrete with hammer feature.
