    The Gun Works

Soooooo, took my m9a1 into The Gun Works in Pleasant Hill. Want to get my Bar-Sto match fit barrel installed. Anyway, I bring the firearm in my locked pelican case with two loaded magazines in the case (no mags in the firearm) figured I'd bring my own test ammo. They start given me crap about transporting a "concealed loaded weapon".... I was like ummmmm the mag isn't in the gun and the case is locked. "It doesn't matter the ammo must be separate" Now from everything I've read and understood from all the great info through this forum is that I'm in the right. Please correct me if I'm wrong because it really bugs me when "professional business's" spread misinformation. I just told the guy OK because I wasn't in the mood to argue...

PS The guys seemed cool other than that just so you guys know.

Legalities aside, why would you even bring loaded magazines with your gun to a gun store. BIG no-no in my opinion.

Their store, their rules. Reed's Indoor Range for example, have rules not allowing loaded magazines in the store area.

I really like those guys so they get a pass as far as I'm concerned.

Unless they know you pretty well I can see the anxiety that might cause. With the way people can be, if I ran a store I would not allow any loaded mags in my place either.

Sorry about bringing in the loaded magazine. I didn't bring the firearm in when I first walked in. I discussed what I wanted done and he asked me if I had it with me. I told him yes and I was told to bring it in with no mention of any house rules. I normally do my own work to everything I own from cars to firearms. I've never brought a firearm into a shop before I just treated it with same respect I would whenever it its transported.

They were really cool overall I was just surprised in regards to the comments made. Well I guess from here out I won't bring my ammo in the mags.

This is not the first time. It is my understanding that certain DOJ officials visiting gun shops have been spreading FUD about the law. This happened with Field Time Target and Training in Stanton, and was brought up on this forum when their store first opened and they were telling people that. It is the DOJ, not the firearm shop employees.

                  Show them this.

I will be traveling to California and want to carry my weapon. I currently have a concealed weapon permit. How can I legally transport my weapon while driving through the state?
California law does not recognize concealed weapon permits from other states; therefore, they would not be held valid. If you wish to transport a handgun during your California visit, it should be carried unloaded in a locked container. In the absence of a suitable container, you may secure the unloaded handgun in the locked trunk of a passenger car. Ammunition may be kept in the same container or trunk, but the handgun must remain unloaded with no rounds in the cylinder and no loaded magazines in the magazine well.
