My walmart will not let me pay for any ammo at the front desk, it's required I pay for and present identification at the register in sporting goods, is this the same for you?

This is retarted, I thought I was being targeted as a thief because I was shopping alone.Comment

Nope, you're no more special than the rest of us it turns out. On a positive note though, you can buy the rest of your crap at the ammo counter too and walk out through the gardening section, avoiding the usual collection of cattle shuffling around at the regular checkout that's up front.Comment

It depends on the store. Everything from the locked cabinet gets paid for in sporting goods
If you are in a rural area, the shotgun shells are sitting out and you can load up your cart and pay at the front.Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I don't know if the Central Valley is "rural," but all the Wal-Marts around Modesto (Turlock, Manteca, Ceres) has plenty of non-handgun ammo out in the open shelves. Its just the handgun, rifle and "premium" stuff that is locked up.Comment

This is how it is at the walmarts around me in the city (SD county - San Marcos, Escondido, Poway, Kearny Mesa).
Also just realized that I've always voluntarily paid for my shotgun shells at the register in sporting goods...Last edited by Roland Deschain; 06-20-2014, 10:31 AM.Comment

I pay for birdshot at both the automotive and gardening counters, and have bought various kinds of ammo up front around 20 min after the sporting goods counter closedComment
