    Laws regarding hiring armed assistance?

Does anyone know a reputable place to hire armed security for an event? What are the laws regarding that?

Do I get a cop in full uniform or do I get more of an undercover looking person?

    Any ideas of cost?

    Thanks

Find a licensed Private Patrol Operator (PPO) in your area. They will either have armed security officers available or they'll be able to tell you where to go to get them.

It's important that you go through a licensed PPO, though - there's a lot of liability issues, and there are laws that could have you on the hook for fines of up to $5000 per guard per day otherwise. (I don't mean just hiring people with guard cards, either - you would at that point have to have a license to operate in-house security.)

Company I used to be a branch manager for (don't bother asking - they're gone now) offered a full spectrum of services, ranging from $8/hr drones in a guard shack all the way up to high-speed guys with trench coats and ear pieces that babysat Paul McCartney's kids on tour.
