Since my other post was locked

(Post about guy making illegal gun transfers)
Just wanted to answer questions brought up. I don't hang with the guy. I just know him. Secondly I was just looking for advice. There is the right thing to do but it's not always right. But I will just MMOB and stay away from him. When I was 21 I would not give a crap. Now I'm a little older I get conflicted with some things like this. So not looking to get anyone's panties in a wad. So feel free to lock it up.

So I guess you don't know the right thing to do... Our mistake.

Oh well, maybe when you are 31.

Just a little hint. If your thread is locked it is considered very bad form to post a "my thread was locked" thread. .

Christ, two years on the forum, i would think you would know better. If a mod locks a thread, the worst thing you could do, after posting a "screw you (insert mod) for locking my thread", is to post a "well ya it got locked, lets keep talking about it".

He has been here two years and still does seem to get that name calling is against the rules, so why would you be surprised.

I think it odd that Ivan locked the first thread. I also think it very odd that so many think this is such a black and white issue, with what is right being clear. It is not.

This topic has come up many times before, in a more hypothetical context, and then, it has been not been locked, and it stimulates useful discussion.

To me there are 3 issues here. One, the whole ex-felons not being allowed to possess firearms. If a person cannot be trusted with firearms, then they should not have been released from prison in the first place. If they are deemed OK to release from prison, then they have paid their debt and should be release with all their rights.

Two, if there is no victim, then there is no crime. Possession of a firearm is not crime IMO. Period.

Lastly, the topic of turning someone in to the authorities for a victimless crime. To me that seems morally wrong. However, if you feel that the person truly is a danger to others, then in that case perhaps the morally correct thing to do is to turn him in.

In any case, this is not as clear cut as many seem to think it is.
