follow up question to bullet set back

So the mossberg 500 is now being kept with no round in the chamber, but a full magazine tube in case of intruder. On the days it's taken to the range, the slugs in the tube are removed before they get put into the chamber, but are still carried up by the tray to the ejection port? (sorry I'm not too familiar with terms). This won't cause set back as long as it is not chambered correct?

A shotgun doesn't suffer from bullet setback like rifles and pistols do. The projectile is not exposed and therefore can not be set back.

Nope, however box magazine fed shotguns with a closed bolt can flatten the top of the top shell in the mag, potentially leading to feeding issues.
