    stuck round in AR-15

    howdy.

first round off, sticks in chamber. Extractor cant grab the casing rim. I'm really not comfortable with putting the old brass rod down the barrel and tapping it out, as I heard no sign of the primer going off. So, potentially, I have a live round in the chamber. That is stuck, really stuck.

That will teach me to shoot wolf...

anyone have any ideas? Its soaking in PB blaster and it will get a good cleaning sans live round in said chamber.

you can't see the primer well enough to determine if its been hit?
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

i believe it's generally considered safe after keeping pointed in a safe direction for 60 seconds. please correct me if i'm wrong but if the primer has been struck it's not a time bomb forever.

And no, "mortering" the rifle didn't remove the round.

Gentle persuasion with a brass rod did the trick. Thanks guys!

I do it in a simple, easy manner:
                  insert brass rod
                  place rifle facing downrange
                  get mallet
                  hammer round out
                  profit

Kudo's to you for being safe OP. So many people would just stick a rod down the pipe and start banging away
