So my father had passed away months ago and I have not received a copy of last will and testament yet, but I have a feeling he may have left a firearm or two to me. In the instance that he did, I know I just need to fill out the proper documentation for CA and pay the $19 fee for transferring them. Now if he had left them to his new wife as part of the estate, but she may want to give them to me , what's the process to have them legally transferred? Does she need to fill out the proper docs for the state to transfer ten to her name first, then transfer them to me via ppt? Can I still take possession of them via CA docs and $19 fee? How best to proceed? Thanks.
