It's closed front, no tines and marketed as a muzzle brake, therefore OK on featureless semi-autos, right?

Does the "Sound redirector" run afoul of CA law? it's not a suppressor, but it is open front and designed to redirect noise from the shooter. I don't think CA's silencer law covers that...

TL;DR, would this be OK in CA? (Yes, I know, 58 DAs and it's not legal advice)

IANAL, but it just might be OK. According to the product description it is a sound re-director, not a suppressor/silencer. It's not designed to "diminish or muffle the report of a firearm", just re-direct it away from the shooters ears. You'll still get the same sound level forward of the muzzle, if not louder.

I'm curious how well it's really going to work as a brake though.

Looks to me like they're marketing it as a device to "counter flash".
