I did it once, and it was pretty fun. Very different than speedball and woodsball. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I used to play paintball hard core. I played every local scenario game and played at SC Village almost every week. Then I turned 18 and sold all my stuff to purchase some rifles.

used to paintball a lot......now it's all about airsoft and that's going to be it from now on....the whole game play is much much more realistic in terms of milsm senarios. Paintball, well is just so so in such senario games, the whole feel and game play isn't as real as airsofting and it's also cost a $$$$$ for paint+air.

          10mm. Because .45ACP just doesn't cut it anymore. <Trailerparktrash>

I played in one of the first 24 hour scenario games Wayne Dollack had in Florida. That was almost 20 years ago. It's fun playing with hundreds of people on a side!

In the evening, I hooked up with a bunch of guys with night vision goggles. That was cool until the other side lit us up with a bank of auto headlights powered by 12 volt car batteries!

I tried paintball a few times. Lots of fun. The friends who I went with tried to get me hooked into paintball and airsoft. They showed off their gear to me and later said they dumped about $1K into the guns and misc gear. For that amount of money, I'd rather go out and get a real gun with real bullets.

Still, it was lots of fun.

BrassBurnz was at one time one of "THE" guys in paintball.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

stuff's cheap nowadays. they still have the "custom" style guns that cost a lot but a legit e marker can be had for very little money. the force fed hoppers are cheaper now too.

i've never had a chance to go to a big scenario game. I went to one in Oroville years ago which was fun, but became sort of silly by the end of the weekend. Played a lot in the woods and speedball both though. I've always been a little put off by the cost of most scenarios, both to get in and then to pay eighty bucks or so for a case of lousy field paint. I'd love to see a calguns paintball day though.

SC village rocks! We play private party elimination with 15-20 people on each side. If you play on the weaker team it usually ends up 2-3 against one and can be a real challenge. Beirut and Kuwait are my favorite fields.
There are not too many better ways to practice for SHTF senarios than shooting and getting shot at by live targets.

My friends and I used to play scenario paintball in a forested paintball site owned by one of my brother's best friends. We would all come dressed in military camo, and would be put onto the same team to play against random corporate "team-building" newbie groups. We played several hostage rescue and capture, blowing up a bridge, attack and defensive scenarios with no time limit.

We had the advantage of bringing our own British mil-surp ring-pull L83 smoke grenades and Mk9 thunderflashes, which was very useful for intimidating the other team.

                          In case you've never seen a Mk9 before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDSQn...eature=related

you got a point there about for that amount of money it can buy the real steel already, but.......for example airsoft. For playing airsoft you can use most of the Real deal equipment/gear. For example you can use your real plated armor vest that's uses molle attach points with multiple AR/M-16 mag pouches, you can use your ESS goggles and assorted Real BDU/Tactical gear and everything else. It's sort of like training with the actual gear that you may use in real live situations. And the airsoft guns-well they are 1:1 replicas meaning that the M4 airsoft gun is about the same as your real M4 less the actual weight. In comparison between professional level airsoft guns and All paintball markers for total best realism airsoft kicksass. It's rate of fire is superb to any paint marker. It's velocity is also way faster than paintball. It's wayyy more accurate than Any paint marker on this planet. Optics are 100% useful in airsoft, as it's useless in paintball due to the trajectory of paintballs. Paintball is more of pray&spray. And paintball gear is really really heavy/bulky, reloading is very slow, shooting positions is very limited i.e. mostly shooting from kneeing/standing position, airsoft can be shot from all positions imaginable. Airsofting is played by the Honor system.

Bottomline is that both paint/airsoft is used for releaving stress and having fun with family and friends at the fraction of the cost to go do some paper punching for a day

Here's some video from 1994 of us playing speedball at MGM Disney Studios. Fred Schultz and David Sparks talk in the beginning, I jump in around minute 6 doing the play-by-play commentary. It was the first time paintball was shown on ESPN2.
