IV Shooting Media Outcome, Not So Bad?

Does anyone else think that the Media isn't pouncing on gun rights like we feared?

I know we have some stupid bills introduced, but I'm sure they won't pass. Maybe my news sources are limited now as we ditched cable last month; My sources are network news, morning and evening, along with my info-only-Facebook account. Aside from some fringe opinion and losers' blogs, I don't see the super heavy anti-2A backlash like Newtown....... Yet?

Anyone from the interwebs have an opinion?

*If you think I'm wrong, don't friggin pounce on me, I am just making an observation from what I have seen, and want to know more. So far, that missing flight and other stories have been repeated more, and the IV shooting is more linked to misogyny and drugs rather than gun control.

Depends on the media you watch/read/listen to. CNN has been having guests on calling for more gun control since the day after the incident.

They are careful not to flood us with gun-hate speech because all logical steps were taken and this nut slipped through the additional mental welfare inspection. The very measures they promote, would have not prevented that nut from killing with whatever he could use, knife , car ect .

This makes me think we should anticipate more of their next moves. Is there any way to propose/pass a bill to further anti-infringement? I mean, is there anything we can do to circumvent attempts at chipping away more and more of our rights?

....I know the logical answer would be The CONSTITUTION already exists! But we see what has already been done.

Actually, this case hurts anti gun agenda more than it helps. It's hard to argue that the whole nation should have same strict laws as CA, when this happened in CA.

Even worse, there was no EBR and the kid used only reduced capacity magazines. He passed and/or obeyed every single gun control measure...

Not in CA. Our only option is courts.

Trying to work with CA politicians (and those who support them) is like trying to invite KKK members to go to a mixed race wedding.

You need to read the rest of the posts in the 2A Forum, the tidal wave of stupidity is engulfing us as we speak. Talk about knee jerk reaction, the antis are pouncing on this both here and nationally. We must hope and pray that they aren't able to ram through all of these Constitutional abuses.

Congrats on killing cable, we have been free from it for 7 years now. It was the best thing i ever did, after a while you start to notice all the bull crap that the idiot box pushes..

As for the media coverage: i think the reason it wasn't so bad this time around might be due to all of the failures of the current controls in place, it highlights the ineffectiveness of gun control.

The women's rights movement deflected a lot of the usual outrage with their #YesAllWomen campaign. Turned the typical coverage of a spree killer into a platform for social commentary on the fact that all women live in a perpetual state of fear of being harassed, raped, and murdered by a man every day.

Couple that with the use of a knife and car resulting in more fatalities than the guns, this guy having a long history of mental health care, and California being at the top of Brady's list and having all of the common-sense gun laws pushed for after Sandy Hook in place...there's not really anywhere else to go but complete ban and/or confiscation. The latter of which the 'temporary firearm restraining order' is seeking to do.

True. I mean, It would be very difficult to filter a guy like that.
He could drive (licensed), could apply for a gun and get a gun.
A psycho like that is very difficult to spot or profile by engaging in conversation.

It's never about Mental Illness or other issue, IT'S always the gun.

It's a tough one for them, California has every law they claim to want, but he still did this.

And since half the people were killed with a knife, it's kind of a tough one to say "if he didn't have a gun nobody would have died" to.
