But I've heard it's against the rules for felons to have guns... How is this possible!?sigpic

This story cannot be true. It is a Federal gun free school zone!

Can anyone remember a story where a mass shooting happened and the child showed the firearm to others before they started shooting? Doesn't sound like a mass shooting, it sounds like a child with poor conflict handling skills was about to murder someone who had been bullying them.
As in most of these cases i blame the parents. as for the attempted vilification of the dad for having an unsecured firearm, big deal i grew up my entire life knowing where to get a host of firearms, i was also bullied, i never brought a firearm to school and damn sure didn't shoot anyone. Know why? my mother and father taught me better.ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

Ugh. I feel awful for this kid and am extremely glad he didn't harm anyone.
Yeah, that struck me as well. Someone intent on killing their tormentor isn't going to seek approval and reassurance from peers beforehand. I'm skeptical that they would have gone through with it had he not been arrested. Can anyone remember a story where a mass shooting happened and the child showed the firearm to others before they started shooting? I too was bullied in school and in our neighborhood. I knew where my father's guns were (usually kept loaded) and it never once occurred to me to bring one to school. But then again, I'd never heard of 'school shootings'. Columbine was the first real high-profile school shooting I'd ever heard of, and that was 8 years after I'd graduated high school.Last edited by CBruce; 05-22-2014, 6:29 PM.Comment

Good thing we've got universal background checks in California so felons never get their hands on a gun.~ El Frito

Idk about y'all, but when I was in school, if someone bullied you, you would just punch them in the face, the two of you would fight, and that was the end of it. No guns, no knives. I weep for the futureOriginally posted by KestryllThis guy is a complete and total idiot.

Cbruce-- I remember the shooter in the tower at a Texas school as the first one other than Kent State (not really a school shooting)
But how about that nutjob Brenda Spencer? She shot a bunch of kids & killed two men here in San Diego. With a .22 rifle from across the street.
I know that one well. My daughter goes to that school now.
As for the recent event, I wager that the boy was hoping to scare the bullies rather than kill them---or he just would have shot them outright.
I also bet the kid had no idea of the S**t-storm he was creating for himself & his father. Ooops!
Btw, It seems that Brenda's dad still lives in the house across the street while married to his daughter's ex-cellmate! He's the guy who gave her the birthday rifle, even though the local authorities were already trying to get him to commit her to an in-patient mental health facility.
I've told my kid that if she hears shooting to hide from THAT house.Comment
