No bullet button on new build

I didn't want to hi-jack another thread. I finally finished my 80% lower, and put the LPK in it last night. I needed to do a little touch up here and there, but it seems to be working ok.

One thing I didn't do was to install a bullet button. I will be leaving the state in 3 weeks so F it. I'm going to Colorado, where the only restriction they have is a 15 round limit on the mags, but they are working on that law.

I will also be going for a CCW as soon as I have a permanent address. Going to make the wife get one also.

Sorry for bragging, not trying to rub anybodies nose in the CA crap. I'm just very happy to go to a free state.

Keep in mind, if you currently have a pistol grip on the receiver and no bullet button you are in possession of an illegal assault weapon.

Congrats on the move hope it works out for you.

Only if there is a centerfire upper attached to the lower. A lower without an upper on it doesn't need a bullet button. Featureless centerfire semi autos don't need a bullet button either.

Keep in mind that you don't have a clue. It is 100% legal to have a PG on a lower without any sort of mag lock at all. A fully built lower without an upper is not a "center fire, semi auto rifle with a detachable magazine" nor a "semi auto handgun with a detachable magazine outside the pistol grip". Please quit spreading Fear Uncertainty and Doubt.

My apologies, I misread his post and was under the impression he had "completed" the build.

Also, I don't it a habit of spreading FUD, but I was under the impression an assembled lower without a maglock and pistol grip was still under the definition of an AW.

I do stand corrected and apologize for posting.

There are no "evil features" until and unless the gun as a whole becomes semi-automatic and centerfire.

A pistol grip and detachable magazine is an evil feature combo, but ONLY when mated with a centerfire semi-automatic upper. A rimfire semi-auto is exempted. As is a centerfire bolt-action.

No sweat. Anyone who openly admits they made a mistake has my respect.

A couple minor corrections to your above post.

"We see this question time & again from people who seem to want to violate the law 'privately' with no BB in remote areas and then transport the gun to/from home 'legally'. If a person does this he's not only committing a crime, he' just lazy too.

Yeah it's kinda legal as there's no constructive possession. But don't expect it to smell good to a cop or a DA or even judges.... thiis could be an instance where something has to run up the appeals chain.

I hate answering these questions because someone will take the above words, turn them inside out and use it to promote illegal or stupid behaviors.

Individuals transporting/storing OLL black rifles, etc. should ALWAYS have them 'in proper shape' and have demonstrated significant efforts toward compliance... BB maglock installed, or no pistol grip, or exempt due to rimfire or manually cycled (nonsemiauto) status."

quoted from bwiese from another thread.

"There is no constructive possession of assault weapons, but you can be arrested for possessing a "broken" assault weapon. Which has happened in the past."
quoted from quiet from another thread.

may be legal but not smart imo

Why dont people who havent been here since oh. . .say. . . 2008. . . take a minute to read the damn rules regarding AW's and OLL's? Sure would make it a whole lot easier for those that paved the way back in 2005 for everyone.

No it's still a pistol grip, but the firearm is not considered "Centerfire" until it has an upper receiver assembly attached that is designed for the firing of centerfire ammunition.
