Two Men Robbed, shot on Redding trail

Two men were shot by an alleged robber on a hiking trail near Redding.

I always hoped this would never happen, because the hiking trails are normally too much trouble for the &^#&*%@#s of the world.
Now the arguments over gun free vs safely armed will begin again.

        That IS a possibility.
They tend to not bother with the well used trails or rob people though.
Just shoot, shovel, and shut up.

The hikers may have happened upon something they were not supposed to see. Need to thoroughly search that area. I am sure the peos will. Time for surveillance like we had on the trails in Nam. Then agent orange on the grows/growers.

Seen this on the news, very sad, to take out some elderly folks. ( #*^@IN Hero's )

Also this is not a BIG pot growing area,( IMO ) it's very Brown & hot , an the soil is crap.

Not to mention that those crops of these people will surly sick out like a sore thumb out there, with all the dead grass.

How do I know edgerly779 Canoga Park ? I drive though that area often when heading to Reno. The summer water has to be the biggest problem for the pot grower.

It is a some what remote area, that's for sure, once you hike out from the road, I really don't see the draw to going there.

That is sad when a guy can't do a walk a bout without some punk showing up, that is an arid area and who knows who the person was, hopefully they will catch the perp and give him what he deserves. I don't go anywhere without at least a decent legal sized knife somewhere on my body. it's not much when the other has a gun but at least you've given yourself a choice perhaps.

I was starting to be harassed by some homeless guys on Bear Creel in Medford, I told my girl friend to trade places, this put my Buck style belt sheathed knife in their eyesight and they shut up immediately. There's nothing worse then being unarmed and vulnerable when there are so many crooks, punks, and wanna be gangsters running around these days.

Never ever go out in the hills unarmed. Ever.

But does not one need a CCW even when hiking?

This one of many cases that indicates gun control is just BS.

Not if it's in a locked case, unloaded.

still think there must be more to this ...

maybe its just me but if i wanted to "rob" someone i think i would pick the home depot parking lot and find a victim with a stuffed wallet , than a hiking trail to take their walking stick ....
