Broke another bullet button tool, anyone know who makes a good one?

I just broke another bullet button tool trying to convert my latest AR purchase into a radlock. I heated up the bullet button in hopes of melting whatever locktite they put on and yet I broke the ears on the tool.

all these tools are cheap chinese made junk! Anyone sell like a titanium or at least a good quality one?

I use small needle nose pliers, the long reach type.

Then if I need to torque it off, I grab those pliers with another pair and rotate.

The 316 Stainless Steel Bullet Button tools from CalGuns vendor CalifMini have been the best I have used. Maybe send him a PM and see if he is still offering them.

A link to his previous Commercial Sales thread - http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=543109

It's screwed too deep to where it could be reached by the pliers. The space between wall of the bullet button and the mag catch are too narrow to allow much in there.

Snap ring pliers, the one's with the round tips. Those are small enough and still pretty strong, being heat treated steel and all...

              make your own

I use a .17HMR shell that I down down and make tabs with a dremel, if it breaks then I just get another empty 17hmr shell and repeat. you should no need to torque the nut down, just a drop of blue lock tight to keep it from coming loose and your done

What happened with those? I've been using those pliers for over 40 years to do that kind of work. Did they bend, or did the notches round over?

You probably need to grind the tips down a bit. Dremel with a grinding wheel would do it.

You can make one. 6mm stainless steel tubing about 1inch long. Dremel one end so only the two posts are standing on one end. Cross drill a 3/32" hole on the other end to insert a crossbar. Napa auto parts sells SS tubing for brake lines in metric sizes.

Heat up the BB with a soldering iron to soften the loctite before trying to remove it. Should come off pretty easy then.
