    Review: Dublin Knives & Guns

One place I don't plan on going back to ever again.

I've been there several times the past few months, mostly because they sell .223 at $6.99 a box and 7.62x39 at $5.99 a box. Nice prices and selection for the most part.

    But the service was terrible.

Rude - Last time I went there was a really personable asian man at the counter. My 2 year old son ran in saying he needed to go potty, and he directed me to one in the back. Today the same thing happened, but the guy behind the counter told me to run across the parking lot to another store.

Inattentive - I came in, there was only one guy in there, who was apparently known by the owner. They talked and talked and talked, and I waited and waited. No help, no assistance. The other customer wasn't apparently even a customer, he just wanted to chat.

Inaccurate Info - I wanted to do a transfer. Guy from SoCal was going to mail his SKS up, didn't want his FFL to send it. Irvington Arms doesn't have any problem with doing this, and charges $100 for it. This shop *SAYS* it charged $125, works for me since I didn't care to drive to Fremont. They changed their policy apparently, and didn't update the posted info.

One other problem I had with the place was that the guy working the counter (old obese guy, but I don't hold that against him) seemingly had tourettes of something. He just had a filthy mouth. I'm used to cussing, come on, I live in the USA. But it's nice to have a reason to swear, and it's a bit more acceptable.

Overall, I'm never going back there again. I'll find another place to get 7.62x39. I'll gladly drive to Irvington Arms for ANYTHING, over waiting around at this place.

I'm pretty sure I saw some lowers in there last time I went. Friendly place. I heard bad things about it from a long time ago, but it's under different management now, and they people there are great.

Doms is a great place too. I only went to the Dublin shop because their sign said they'd do transfers over the mail from a private party. They changed that and didn't update their sign. Never again.

I've purchased firearms from J&R, and done several transfers through them. They've put a lot of effort into the shop since it changed hands, and it shows. A fine shop, highly recommended.

I've also done a few transfers through Irvington Arms. They certainly need no introduction on this board; for what it's worth I highly recommend them as well.

I was in there a couple of years ago. Lots of knives. No guns.

They actually have guns in there now? Is the stock any good?

They have a limited number of guns in there, nothing you can't get anywhere else though.

I've been to Dublin Guns & Knives twice - once just to check it out, and another time to buy some 7.62x25 for my new CZ52 (didn't want to wait for an internet order). I was not impressed by the shop or the help. One younger guy was okay, but there's a crotchety old guy there who's attitude is that you're disturbing him by walking into the shop.

I highly recommend J&Rs in Livermore. Since it changed hands last year, they've really fixed up the shop, and they know what customer service is about. It does get busy at times, so patience may be required, but they'll spend the time you need to make sure you get what you want.

I stop buy there now and then. They are mostly hand guns. They stock more handguns then J&R, Dom's and Irvington all put together. When I was there last week I counted some where around 95 hand guns in the case.

I have also purchased two Sig's and one CZ from them with out any problems
or bad service. Judging from the OP it sound more like a personalty thing rather then a service problem.

I have made a couple of purchases from the store in Dublin. The older gentleman, may not be the friendliest of store owner(?)/workers, but after a several purchases, I think he just has a hard time hearing me. When I spoke up, he became friendlier . Overall, I think their prices are reasonable by Bay Area standards. Their hours of operations are a little weird though: something like Wednesday through Saturday. There aren't a ton of choices in the East Bay, so I'll go there mainly because it is within driving distance, and now I just speak louder .

The Dublin store won't do a PPT on Saturdays.
