Yes that method is fine, so long as the firearm is in a hard-sided locked container.
Sounds fine, so long as the Gun Vault stays locked. In this case the TSA lock is not required, but you can use it if you want to.I will be flying Alaska Airlines home and was planning on taking a Gun Vault NV200 as my hard case and putting that inside my checked Eagle Creek soft sided baggage. I was thinking this would work since I could use the supplied security cable and loop it around my suitcase handle to prevent it from “falling out” in case of a TSA inspection. I have a a TSA lock I will put on my check-in bag
And before anyone says "You can't use a TSA lock for a firearm!!", in this case you can. The firearm is locked in the gun vault via a key, having a TSA lock on the outer soft-suitcase is just coincidental and does not change the fact that the firearm remains in a locked hard-sided container. If the TSA lock was the only lock protecting the firearm it could not be used according to transportation regulations.Last edited by lorax3; 05-16-2014, 8:19 PM.You think you know, but you have no idea.
