    Mossberg MVP

Im really thinking about buying a Mossberg MVP to just throw in the car when I go on road trips out in the country. Mostly for coyotes, bobcats or hogs, but I guess it would also double as self defense if needed. (though I keep a mossberg 500 JIC in the jeep for that kinda stuff)

Do you guys think the 223 MVP would be adequate for my intended use or should I get the 762x51?

A month ago I would have just gotten the 762 but lately Ive been trying to drop the number of calibers I have to keep in stock and honestly, my M&P 10 never gets taken out of the safe, so I have it up for sale. If I find an interested enough buyer Id sell all my 308 ammo too. Unless I find a bolt action that will take my 308 Pmags** Ive read that the MVP in 762 doesnt take pmags

Do you guys think a truck gun is better with just iron sights or a cheapo factory installed scope?

It sounds like you're looking for something to do varmint hunting when you're out in the country with your jeep, I think a scope would be a nine to have.

However, if you mount a cheap scope and it gets banged around the jeep, chances are that it'll lose it zero when you need it. So you might want to invest something in the mid range.

Here's a good video on scope selection.
