    locating ak piston pin!

Need to replace my piston from my ak kit to be 922r compliant and theres a bit of wobble when trying to move piston from bolt carrier but feels that there is a pin holding, but when i try to locate the pin port around the bolt i can find it.
Its so smooth, the surface is completely even.
Anyone know how i can detect where the pin is positioned at?
or how to remove it when i find it?

it's supposed to wobble. The pin is blended in after riveting so it doesn't catch on anything. When you find it, carefully drill it or punch it out.

To find it, take some sand paper and sand around the front of the carrier until you see it.

Seems unusual that you'd need to replace the piston for 922r. You can get compliant by just replacing the receiver, barrel, and trigger group (3 parts), and muzzle break. With that, you can still use foreign mags. Or if you have original barrel and muzzle device, you can use Tapco mags and still be compliant.

          True, but I have:
          Original barrel polish ak kit,
          922r parts:
          Receiver (1 part)
          Fcg (3parts)
          Muzzle brake (1 part)
          And piston (1 part)
Won't be using a pistol grip but a monsterman type grip (doing a featureless build).

I know if I don't have a pistol grip, it would be -1 922r part but just want to be sure if anyone makes a fit on whether it compliant, also a mental calmness factor.

As for magazines: I have european 10 rd metal magazines (just like normal ak surplus magazines) and would like to use those instead..

those two bolded parts are most commonly not compliant

changing the piston out for 922r is so common that tapco's been making them for awhile: http://www.tapco.com/products/ak/ind...d&productId=72

You're pretty lucky to get an original barrel nowdays, and I wouldn't call original receivers common either. Not too many guys out there with the skill to do a good rewield job. But yeah, the tapco pistons say that I'm wrong I guess

                true,
knowing this was my first ak build , i thought if im going to get one, might as well be a keeper and bought this kit,
thought it was a bit high in price, but knew original barrel kits dont come by often.

Update: found the pin or rivet!
As I was hopleless in my neverending journey to find the elusive pin, the sun was coming through my curtains and as I was looking at the piston, there it was, right before my eyes, and I marked with a sharpee its location,,, For its true, the sun showed me the way.

wasrs come with Romanian receivers. so do M+M rifles. are you implying that its uncommon to see an AK rifle with a non us made receiver?

what exactly is your definition of "original receivers"? demil'd =/= "original"

btw no one claimed you were "wrong," i was just adding info and letting you know that its not uncommon to change the piston out of rifles for 922 compliance. if you want, i can go get some salsa for that chip on your shoulder. i got pace.

No chip at all, sorry if it sounded that way. I was talking about kits, which is what OP has. Pretty safe assumption that his receiver won't be original. Peace.
