    Scar 16s or Bushmaster ACR

I wanted to do a poll to see which rifle is more liked.

FN Herstal Scar 16s or Bushmaster ACR?

Also curious why the ACR sells for alot cheaper than the SCAR 16s. So any opinions in that would help as well.

JUST FYI I ALREADY OWN A SCAR 16. I WAS JUST CURIOUS OF THE TWO RIFLES, SO THATS THE REASON I MADE THIS THREAD.

You need to watch the youtube video of Hitler upset about the ACR. It is the first gun related version, I believe. On my phone, maybe someone could embed for me please?

I've had both and sold both. I prefer a standard ar15. But to answer your question regarding both. I liked the feel and the handling of the acr better than the scar16. I guess the only downside, if you wanna call it that, is that the acr barrel comes in 1:9 twist.

The reciprocating charging handle on the scar doesn't drive anyone nuts?

How is that a downside? Are you shooting tracers?

I didn't say it's a downside, that's IF you want to call it a downside.

What's wrong with a 1:9 twist barrel? People swear like they will always shoot a higher grain bullet. 55 & 62 grains is what's most readily available on the market. Even if shtf im sure you will mostly find 55 or 62 gr ammo. But this is just my opinion.

OK, I'll play and answer your question somewhat seriously. A SCAR would be a much better choice, everything equal.

Let me give you this caveat, I am not an FN fanboi and would gladly take a Noveske over either.

The ACR had a lot of problems. They had to do a recall because they were going full auto on people. They would even fire full auto without the trigger being touched. Now that is one hell of a **** up. I remember trying to watch a video of one firing full auto while being on the ground. It was removed due to someone realizing they had a machine gun and were posting evidence of said violation. This alone should give you an idea of Bushmaster quality.

You mention 1x9 twist doesn't matter for SHTF. Well, I would much rather have a weapon by a company that has a track record of making quality combat tested weapons instead of Bushmaster every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Good luck finding parts for any gun once SHTF. I would prefer the gun I am least likely to need parts for. If a SCAR is good enough for SEALS in Afghanistan, it's good enough for me.

How many units with no budget issues have adapted/used the ACR? I would be very interested to know, because my count is zero. I do wonder what a real company like FN could of done with the design, however the company that should sell planter boxes instead got the rights.

Bottom line: Bushmaster can make decent quality AR parts, they can't quality test a complete product and deliver something with the same quality. Sorry they just suck compared to a company with a solid history of firearm design and manufacturing.

I never fired either weapon but have handled them both a few times and the clear winner in today's market is the SCAR. Not only is it used by
actual police and miltary units it holds it value so if you ever needed or wanted to sale it, you won't be stuck with it like a ACR.

Pretty much all the likes and dis-likes on both rifles held true when I was debating buying either one, in the end went with a high end AR and
                          couldn't be happier.

So lets look at both side by side. SCAR the stock feels cheaper compared to the rock solid ACR stock while both lose the advantage of folding in CA so you can't get the advantage of that part in this state. The SCAR is a tad bit lighter but it shines in the balance department, feels almost like a toy when you pick it up, it's that light. The ACR with the Enhanced quad-rail model feels very front heavy. SCAR selector feels real positive and is made of metal, you can tell it's a quality piece. ACR the dual selector on the right side gets in the way and is cheap plastic dam thing feels like it could easily break. SCAR same controls as a AR, while the ACR loses in this state dual mag releaese but has in the trigger guard a dual bolt catch and release which is really cool. Metal folding sights on the SCAR but the front sight is not replacaeble, while ACR comes with cheap Mag Pul plastic sight that at least you can change out if you don't like them. SCAR Gen 2 P-mags had to be modified to work and Gen 3 are fine, ACR Gen 2 no problems but Gen 3 don't work.

ACR non reciprocating charging handle vs the SCAR that does, which can be over come after it whacks you once or twice. The real deal killer for
me was the 1:9 twist non-chrome lined barrel. Then their is no multi
calibers like they promised and I'll bet my kidneys will never see the light of day. Would have been great with a change of mags and a barrel no
tools needed could shoot 7.62 x 39mm for cheap fun plinking and have a dual set up rifle.

When they both came out they were the same price at the time the ACR was way over priced for what it had to offer vs the SCAR now the ACR is
500 bucks cheaper but even at that price no one wants one. I might have given it a chance if it was still the Masada the way it was intended with
caliber changes but Bushmaster just had to go and ruin the design and I wouldn't trust it's build quality going head to head with FN.

I forgot about the promised caliber changes! We will see those right after the Arc of the Covenant is found. Buwhahahahahahaha!

                            Sorry, Bushmaster just blows.

I have an ACR, scar 17, and a scar 16. My advice: buy both
