well this guy was a idiot that made a youtube video of him shooting the gun. he was arrested with 5 3D printed guns. he said he did not know it was illegal. police determined that a bullet fired from the gun could puncture 10 pieces of plywood so theoretically the printed gun could be used to kill someone.

Who cares about Fukashima right? Lets arrest the big bad man with the plastic guns!!A note to the NSA or anyone gathering information on me, this disclaimer is for you..."Everything I type on this website Is purely fictional and for entertainment purposes only. None of it is true."
Also, sometimes I type in CAPS to emphasize a POINT. Please dont interpret that as YELLING. Sorry if I HURT any fuzzy little bunny's FEELINGS out there. -
TBH I didn't know it was illegal either, though I'm not at all surprised. The difference is though that I don't have a 3D printer, nor the funds to buy one, and I'm not dumb enough to put it on YouTube.well this guy was a idiot that made a youtube video of him shooting the gun. he was arrested with 5 3D printed guns. he said he did not know it was illegal. police determined that a bullet fired from the gun could puncture 10 pieces of plywood so theoretically the printed gun could be used to kill someone.

This is Japan
This is Japan. There is a ZERO tolerance policy on just about anything that can be wielded as a weapon over there. They even have a ban on edged weapons too ... that is unless you are a collector and file for permits.
The uber-wealthy overlords there can do pretty much anything they want.
Even some forms of martial arts are banned there.
Japan is a very nice place to visit ... I would not want to live there however.Comment

The first story says he posted a video on youtube of him shooting a gun. The second story says he posted a video on youtube of him holding the gun and that he had no ammo. The second story makes more sense.__________________

I doubt he could get factory ammo for the gun which is 380 ACP and impossible to get live ammo unless he had it shipped in from outside of Japan and the shipper didn't know it's restricted.
He could have made some sort of ammo himself that he used for the Youtube videos instead and it would explain why no real factory ammo was found.
Yes it was dumb of him since the only gun you can own in Japan are shotguns for skit shooting and even those are more impossible to get than a CCW in CA.
You can own fixed bladed weapons in Japan no problem but are not allowed to carry them. Lots of guys over their collect high end knives like Striders etc, even swords are legal.
And those with money own high replica non firing guns that are made almost as good as a real firearm you can even load it with dummy rounds but it can't be made to fire real bullets. Hell you can even purchase blank firing guns like those used over here in the movie industry but it's expensive.Comment

Yes ... swords are legal. However, last time I was in Kyoto, according to the store manager of Tozando ... (Tozando appears pretty legendary in Japan) ... he told me that you needed a permit to own anything other than an iaito ... (replica sword). The iaito cannot hold an edge and most of them are made to shatter upon any real impact with anything.I doubt he could get factory ammo for the gun which is 380 ACP and impossible to get live ammo unless he had it shipped in from outside of Japan and the shipper didn't know it's restricted.

Also... it could be store manager FUD when I went in there to talk to them. In my opinion ... Tozando looked like the real deal when it comes to martial arts supplies.Comment

Video in the link above. Watch it if you don't mind the JRPG BGM playing.
He made a 3D printed revolver and used blank rounds. I don't know if it'd hold up with actual .38spl. The cylinder would probably fail after a few shots, if not the first. I'd rather take a Saturday Night Special into battle than that thing.
The other guns seemed to be DD Liberator clones or derivatives.
They might as well arrest people for possessing pipes and nails.Last edited by Apec; 05-09-2014, 2:40 PM.WTB:
