So i just got back from the only local shop in my town (Discreet Defense, red bluff ca) to pick up a AR lower , now i like to support LGS even if it is costing me more $$, but this time i found i will no longer support them due to the owner running his FUD so here is the story ..
i pop in and he is selling a couple of pistols to a gentleman so i walk around looking and see his lowest priced lower is 150 and i think heck its only 50 more then driving to Redding why not so i wait and listen to them talk ....
as he is selling a S&W he starts saying that almost all the smiths and rugers are dropping off the list and cant be sold in CA anymore, so i ask him "cant you do a SSE on them ?" and he answers yes i could but i wont due the the fact i know what you are going to do with the pistol once its out of the shop, return it to S/A from SSE, and i ask whats the problem with that ? and was told that it is illegal
so as all this is going on they have a Slidefire vid running on there big screen so i ask them how they can sell it being that it is considered a illegal in CA under the 12020 PC muti burst trigger and he said its not illegal....
now the old mans asks about building a 1911 and is told its illegal unless you have a manufacturing lic
and i had to interject as a homebuilder of over 20 year
then goes on to bad mouth about customers that dont know what they are talking about to the older man he is selling a pistol to , while i am still standing there with 800 bucks burning a hole in my wallet
so long story short Discrete tactical/Discreet Defense in Tehama Co says SSE is illegal to convert back to S/A, Homebuilds are illegal without a manufacturing lic and Slidefires are 100% legal... one less shop i will spend my $$$ at and its sad as i do like to support local business but not ignorant ones with poor customer skills
anyone have a pc saying whether or not converting a SSE to S/A is legal ?
or is it just one of those thing that there is no law against it ?
i will now sit back and watch the cool starry bras and grammar police
