Sorry it was late, and I was up for over 26 hours, I work a lot! And I actually knew him through work and a family friend for about 12 years he was in my brothers wedding! But never going to trust anybody again

It shouldn't matter if it was your brother man that's yours and you don't always know someone else's situation. Desperate times call for desperate needs from some people. Trust no one for the ones you think won't harm you will.

There wouldn't be any thievery if you would have keep your sh it locked up and used some discretion in who knows what about you.
And as a bonus, you wouldn't be on here with your story of fail/pity party.

For everyone else out there....use some fawkin' logic.
Don't show people your guns.
Keep the stuff you have locked up...all the time.
Then, it will be very unlikely your guns will be stolen, and you won't be THAT guy posting the "I'm stupid" thread.

And FWIW...OP, actually read your post before posting.
Check for errors in spelling, how the sentences are formed, etc.

a little advice..

• cool off
• buy a bigger / better safe
• lock everything up and forget about it for a while
• re-evalute your thoughts on selling everything
• re-evaluate the people you trust in your home with access to your belongings

Fair enough - but reading the posts it sounded more of a friend of the brother, not of OP.

I would hope that OP would not "give up" and sell alot of his stuff...... just choose who he allowed near his unattended guns better...... you just need to listen to your gut sometimes..... I have (had) people in my family by marrage that I didn't trust and my wife and I had an understanding that our kids were never even going to meet him - if he ever showed up at a family function - I was going to take our kids & leave.

I'd submit that the OP has the right idea.

I rent an apartment, and don't use a safe. Unfortunately even a security container isn't theft proof, and the neighbors know you have valuables as soon as the movers haul a 6'x10'x6' steel box into your unit.

I only keep two guns , and one is locked up at a safety deposit box and the other I carry. I could afford more fun toys, but in my judgement that's unwise when a brick through the window and a hand truck is all anyone needs to rob me.

OP, sorry to hear about the hassle, take it as a lesson learned. Lock everything up in the safe, that's what it's there for. I used to trust friends until a similar situation happened, but was not gun related. I trust only two people with the combo to my safe, they are my wife and my best friend. He and I exchanged combos in case something happened to either of us. He also has more to loose in the safe =D.
