I was told by people who carry guns and protect nuclear facilities to shoot until they catch on fire or change shape, but they had heavy machine guns at their disposal. Handguns are considered a back up weapon used for relatively close range. If you find yourself stuck in a situation where you are in need or a handgun, it all should come down to what you shoot best. My wife loves 1911s, but would she ever carry one in .45? No, her choice is a 1911 in 9mm. She can shoot it more accurately faster than any other handgun we have, but would rather trust her life to an 870 for closer distances.

The inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain.

Unless you shoot the person in the back of the neck what would shooting center mass in the front do to the spine????

In order to paralize someone's arms you would have to hit them between the lower neck/ upper shoulder area of the spine up to the head.

Center Mass shooting is taught because:

      1) Largest target to aim for

      2) Heart is located there right behind the chest plate (a heart is a high pressure pump in a high pressure system and a hole in the heart will have you bleed out VERY rapidly).

Unless it is a armor piecing round the chance of a handgun bullet going throught the cheat plate, heart and back muscles then penetrate the spinal colum bones without moving off course is highly unlikely and near impossible.

Like I said before if you plan to shoot someone 1 time in the center of the chest and expect them to go down NOT gonna happen in most cases regardless of caliber.

You want to put someone flat on their back and not ever come back up then shoot them with a 12 gauge Slug in the chest, anything else is a gamble without proper shot placement AND multiple shots.
Sure, the heart would be a nice thing to hit, but that is the only organ that applies to. Lung shot would take minutes to stop you, lower organs could take an hour. The head makes a bigger target if all you have is a pistol, and if you do have a rifle, than with center of mass what you really do want is the spine.

The head moves around a lot more than the chest. Also, last I checked, humans on this planet have heads that are smaller than their chests.
