    C&R License Questions

I was planing to move out of state this year but situation dictate otherwise. I wanted to know if its still worth getting a C&R in California. I have heard some people say you still have to register your fire arms with a C&R. If so, does it mean your collectors license is worthless? Do you still have to go through an FFL? Comments are much appreciated.

yes, you have to register any new acquisitions.
    no, it isn't worthless.
sometimes you have to go through an FFL, depends on what you're acquiring and how.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

There a nice thing to have. Going out of state alows you to acquire neat stuff with out haveing to use ffl01. Its worth the $30. Just little more work you have sense the first of the year. You now have to have a COE todo in the state with out doing ppt.

I'm looking at getting a C&R and COE myself. Started to do it years ago but never did. Think it's finally time!

        One clarification needed, though....

When you send in the C&R form (BOF 4100A) is it $19 per gun or just $19 flat?

I know when it was handguns that it was per gun. I have a feeling it still is that, they just need to clarify on new report.

            I could be wrong thought.

It's now $19 per form, no matter how many guns are being reported.

OP, all good tips for those who have mentioned on here. I've been an FFL 3 holder for quite sometime and you'll indeed see the benefit, so long as you get your COE as well.

Otherwise, you're good to go, fill the form, put the check, send a copy to CLEO, and then it's just a waiting game! You'll be happy once you see the packet they send you and knowing you've been approved and awarded the license

Thank you ever one. I have already spent a fortune on milsurp rifles and I am tired of being stuck with the local gun shop crap. I would love to purchase from other vendors. I figure I am broke now but why not have more C&R firearms and be broke.

It is this. What Mssr. Elegante' has said is the way it works in California. And yes, there is a distinct, yet watered down, benefit to having a C&R + COE. You need both in order to enjoy this benefit however.

One of these days, I will go out of state and acquire a C&R and bring it across the border. Of course, I will have 30 days to fill out and submit the paper work however.
