I think polymer guns are overpriced. But I don't think a 1911 should cost $1000 either.Comment

Yeah, my Gen1 Glock G17 from 1987 is just about worn out...better sell it for scrap to get an all metal pistol.
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
Come on...what harm??

More like 1985 if someone seriously still thinks that plastic gun parts when made properly can't hold up over time. As we all know, those 30 year old gen 1 glock frames have all melted into a pile of goo and the 40+ year old HK VP70's have crumbled, while the 55 year old nylon 66's have simply ceased to exist. Don't even get me started on bakelite(manufacturers were lucky if that stuff survived long enough to leave the factory)
As we all know, no proper steel firearm components have ever rusted, cracked, bent, etc.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!Comment

I think it is amazing that we all now use the term "Polymer" when describing non-metallic frames on guns.
Lets face it folks...it's plastic !!
I truly cant believe we have been duped into thinking this material will last as long or longer than metal.
Much cheaper for Glock, Springfield and others to use these injected molded parts rather than machining quality metal and fitting by craftsmen.
What you do you think ???
Duped into thinking it last longer? One of the biggest complaints about 'plastics' is that it takes far to long to deteriorate. Especially compared to iron. Throw a chunk of iron and a chunk of plastic in the ocean and see which one lasts longer. Doesn't make it any more or less suitable for any particular application.
What do I think? I think way too many people are stuck in the "100 years of tradition unhampered by progress" mode. The whole old tech vs new tech argument can be applied to just about every product we own, from automobiles to air travel to computers. I also think way too many people are snobbish about their personal preferences and opinions and look down their noses at anyone who doesn't hold their opinion or have the same preference.
It's great that people like the old iron hammer fired technology. It's also great that there's newer striker fired polymer technology. Either one can work perfectly in the right hands.Comment
