    Forty-five seconds.

That's how long it took me to print off my very first CA DOJ shipment letter a few minutes ago. Easy as can be.

California, you got two more guns on the way with plenty more to come.

Thanks for doing this for those behind the Kali curtain!

I can only hope one of them is mine If not, it'll be soon enough.

For those of you in the greater San Diego area, Gussler's FFL is on file with Alan.

As stated before, thanks for the support.

Anyone know what conditions that would be a denial for a shipment letter ? Besides the obvious of course. Can you post some screenshots of the process ?

The one I just shipped is going to Snelling's in Sacramento.

Lakai, I think the denial is if the info doesn't match up. I'll have to get a screen shot thingie and I'll take some shots of the process on my next one. I have 14 transfers pending so there's plenty of chances.

          Put in the CFD number.
Put in the number of handguns and long guns in the shipment.
          Make up a shipment number.

          Hit SUBMIT.

Screen comes up that has the information that the DOJ has for the dealer with that CFD number. If it matches with the FFL you have in hand, select the one that says it is correct (can't remember exact words) and hit SUBMIT.

Screen comes up with the letter. I print off two copies, one for me one for the CA dealer.

Technically the CA dealer just needs the authorization number and not the actual letter, but I figure a copy is just easier.

California Firearms Dealer number. It's the 5 digit number that IDs the CA dealer. The CA dealer must register with the DOJ and is issued a number. I enter the number and the info that the DOJ has comes up. If it's the same as the info I was provided by the dealer's FFL license, then the letter is approved and I can ship.

They only ask the number of handguns and long guns.

Hmmn, I'm not sure how interweb-accessible they are.

Oh well, I'll probably talk with them this weekend and will see.

As of today I have a local office shop accepting faxes for me. The number is 906-337-2993. Make it "Attention: Adam Frank". Make sure they also provide their CFD number with their FFL.

Adam check out efax. They allow faxes to go straight to your computer.

They don't have my area code supported. I'm 906, MI's Upper Peninsula. Thanks though.

This is just a temporary solution until I get a fax machine. I'm eying up a HP 4 in 1 machine. I have a 3 in 1 copy, scan, print currently. Even just a cheap fax only machine might work. I'd have to get a line splitter but I think I have one laying around.

Whelp, CDNN is apparently out of 24inchers and stocks, so I guess that's the end of that.

I'll keep freakshow in mind the next time CDNN has an interesting longarm.

Shipped a few more guns to CA today. Here's some pics of how the CFLC crap works. I lost my screenshot program when I reinstalled my OS, so I had to use the camera. My apologies.

First page. This is where I enter the CFD or (California Firearms Dealer) number, the number of handguns and longguns, and my shipping invoice number.

Next, it shows the information the DOJ has on file for that CFD number. If it matches up exactly as the FFL information shows, I select the option that says ..."is the correct subject"... and click Submit.

Here's the letter that comes up.

Finally, here's the hard copy I include with the shipment. It isn't required to send a hard copy, the CA FFL just needs the approval number, but it's easier and more accurate if they just have a letter. I print off two copies, one for the CA dealer and one for my records.

I hope this answered some questions of how it works. It takes less time to do it than read about it. I'm shipping another gun out to CA tomorrow and will make a video of it so you can see in real time how it goes down.
