    Did anyone head to The Big Reno Gunshow this weekend? Just want to know if it's worth the drive to check out

    Thought about it, but don't really need anything right now.

          Yeah, I really used to like going to the shows up there, but it is hard to beat the i/net these days for parts and ammo.

              I went up on Friday morning and stayed the night. Found what I was looking for in the first 15 minutes. Used the rest of the day to leisurely browse and pick up little things here and there.

              Stopped at Cabellas on the way home and picked up all sorts of ammo. .22, .45, 308 and 5.56

              I like to make a mini trip out of it when I go. Stayed at the Peppermill and did pretty well at the BlackJack table!

                $60 bricks of .22 were everywhere! If you skip all the lever actions the show is easy to make it though in a couple hours. I found what I needed in the first 30 min.

                  I made the 3 1/2 hour drive up, spent $50 on stuff I could have easily gotten online, and halfway try my drive home I got myself a speeding ticket. Sigh.

                  It was a good way to kill a Saturday with the GF and some friends, but I don't think I'll be going again for a while. Just not anything there really worth the trouble that I can't get online. Hell, when my buddy was buying a carrier and plates from the AR500 booth, I ordered a PIG carrier on my phone from SKD as I was standing there waiting for him.

                    To each his own, I guess. I really enjoy talking to the people at the tables. Met a few older guys who had stories to go with some of the items they were selling. A friend was looking for a black powder pistol so we scoped them all out. I had a great time and I look forward to the August show! I really like the fact that most of the sellers are in the same floor position for every show. I knew right where to go for the things I went for.

                    I rarely buy ammo at the shows like this unless it is a really good deal or some obscure caliber.

                      I went on Friday. I always find the show worth the one-day drive from the Bay Area, just because our shows here suck so badly.

                      Items that I regret passing on:

                      - S&W Model 22 for $600
                      - S&W Model 64 3" for $550
                      - S&W Model 65 Lady Smith 3" for $650 (before dickering)

                      ::Sigh::

                      Saw tons on Friday. $75 for 550 rounds. Tried not to visibly laugh out loud.
