This has been posted before, but it serves as a great reminder to always follow the rules.

That is not a good time.

I know of a woman who was fiddling with her (Condition 1) .380 auto
and had a ND. She was busy talking, had the gun pointed at her face,
pulled the trigger and sent a round right through her cheek!

The hole in the side of her face was hideous.

          Rule #1...

Crazy how a momentary lapse of concentration can change your life forever.

Dang, I still perfectly remember the only ND that I have had in my entire 13 years as a gun owner. It was my first Hand Gun (Which I still own) Colt Commander .45. I was dumb and young and did not know a lot about guns or safety rules. I was cleaning the gun in my house in FL and after I got done cleaning it I loaded a full magazine into the gun and I let the slide go forward. The phone started to ring and I removed the magazine and placed the gun in the table and went to answer the phone. A few minutes later I got done with the phone call and went back to the gun. I picked it up and aimed at something and squeezed the trigger and BOOOOOOM it went off scaring the living crap out of me, I was so thankful that I did not hurt anyone else or myself, since then I have been so freaking safety oriented when handling my guns.

Pretty nasty stuff. I'm a bit suprised a hollow point 45 had so much penetration.

He's kicking himself all over for it, but he'd feel so much worse if it was somebody else.

Ugh. The only ND I ever had wasn't really due to negligence, but the 30.06 I was holding was busted. Luckily, it was pointed at the ground, and the crater next to my foot was a permanent reminder to me to treat every gun like it was loaded (I was loading it at the time) and keep it on safety (which was the only real negligent part).

Was this lady in Fresno? If it was I saw her too.
Let us hope our weapons are never needed --but do not forget what the common people knew when they demanded the Bill of Rights: An armed citizenry is the first defense, the best defense, and the final defense against tyranny. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military, the hired servants of our rulers. Only the government -- and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws."

When you trace your steps backwards and realize how you did it. Makes you wanna give yourself the Darwin Award right on the spot. I still can hardly make myself drop the hammer when I put an empty gun away. The AR, the shotgun, the XD. On the 1911, even if its empty, I ease the hammer down.
