out of state gun shop employee fail

Never ever leave a customer with a gun and walk to the back area.

Employee was gone for at least a minute to retrieve the accessories. Left the rifle with mag in it and bolt open.

When he came back I showed him that the bolt was still open and chamber was empty.

Good thing I was a good guy. Someone else could have just bolted out the door or worse.

Maybe they're just not hoplophobes and don't have many shady folks in their areas? ;-p

Who knows, maybe they have a hidden video camera and TVs in the back and a way to remotely bolt/lock the door.

Maybe they have a soundproof basement and wanted you to try and steal it.

      What state?

First time dealing with the employee. Maybe my age/graying hair had something to do with it.

Minden still has that small town feel where everybody knows you. I'm sure it wouldn't happen in Reno.

Sounds to me like he was just a trusting soul. Perhpas you are too jaded by living in California. I would love to live in an area where folks can trust each other and leave their doors unlocked.

I know several people who don't have locks on the doors to their houses, and who leave the keys in the ignition of their trucks all the time. Some areas are not full of dirtbags, and some areas only get one or two dirtbags a year.

                I envy those areas!

It sounds like he trusted an honest customer, so where is the fail?
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

Maybe the other guy,the one sitting behind the mirror with a 44, had something to do with it.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

I never went into a store and thought about stealing anything.
Maybe that shows on my face.
People trust me with their guns, their keys, etc., all the time.
And usually I can tell who to trust also.
