    New resident Registration form

Hello new to calguns. Just finished my tour with the Marine Corps did five years always have been a California resident as far as taxes and stuff. Brought back my Saiga 308 evil featureless , Xds-45 , and my new Sig P227 and sent my new resident firearms form in to DOJ to declare and its been three weeks still haven't heard or received a letter wondering if anybody has ever done this and how long it takes. Also looking to find some cal guns members in the IE to meet and kill some paper with at the range.

Welcome to Calguns. Don't worry about the form not getting processed yet. Sometimes it can take them several months to give you confirmation.

You should receive a CA DOJ acknowledgement letter between 2-36 weeks.

I registered a couple of C&R guns I purchased out state, sent the paperwork in August, received the confirmation in May. I actually got scared when I saw a letter from the DOJ in the mail, I had forgotten about the paperwork I sent in. Just be very, very, very patient.

Thank you for your service Devil Dog! I don't recall a confirmation letter. When I registered my firearms I purchased out of state I filled out the form mailed it in to DOJ with a certified receipt and fulfilled my obligation.

Thank you for serving our Country!

I did some vertical family handgun gift transfers on Dec 31st. Got 3 letters (one for each handgun) around Feb 15. So 45 days; not bad.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).
