    DRT Self Defense ammo.

Has any one used the DRT JHP frangible ammo. I have seen it at Big 5 a few times and the guys keep trying to sell it to me (I'm not going to spend almost $1 per round for 9mm unless it is +P and reputable SD ammo). It's 85gr and non-led, quite a light bullet, but they say it is good home defense because it's frangible and will break up if it hits a wall (and I share a wall with my neighbors), but I'm thinking it would also fragment in a jacket making it minimally or non effective (so you shoot the bad guy and he laughs at you because your castle is now his, however, in my house, little would he know my wife is in the other room loading the 12 gauge with slugs).

Anyone ever use or have an opinion on this stuff? I know faster is better but it seems a bit light and low on energy to me.

At 85 gr., I would think it would under-penetrate.

      Gimmick.

Use a Glaser or 12ga Birdshot.
If you need help with any stragglers, call a friend, because it's likely that they have a gun. America in particular have done exceptionally well taking care of the problem, as there are 1.12 guns for every 1 American citizen. So throw a rock, you'll probably hit a gun, pick up that gun, then shoot a zombie.

rugershooter - that was one of my thoughts also

Cheezle56 - I think 9mm +P 135gr JHP do the trick as well, I'm thinking I will stick to that.

        Thanks.

I've come to the conclusion that when using a shotgun for HD anything with multiple pellets has an extremely high potential for over spray. I load mine with low recoil slugs. I have been trying to get some 7/8 oz but for now 1 oz will have to do.
