What are the Laws??? if Any???

So a buddy of mine and I go shooting together at his place.
I bring my wife and he invites his girlfriend over. (Used to be a reason for them to have ladies aid)

But recently my wife has gotten really into shooting, even so much as went out and got her own pistol and currently shopping for a rifle (Hipoint 380 dont ask she likes it and it makes her happy)

Well in turn my buddies girlfriend wants to do the same. This is where the problem arrives I think I dont know for sure.

His girlfriend just received her status of being able to be here in the USA.
It is that status where she has been here for so many years, graduated high school and went to college.

Not sure Of all the logistics but anyway from what I am reading it is not a real resident but like a work visa good for 2 years but yet renews automatically so they can never come after her. Not a lawyer dont know how it works. But she does now have an imegration number and a social security number all her state Ids. She even has to do live scans for her job and passes those no problem.

Anyway the Question can she buy/own???

She lives on her own so I can see the purpose she is very responseable so no issues there.

I have told them to talk to a lawyer so please dont say talk to a lawyer they are going too.

I am just curious if anyone has heard of a situation like this and what to tell them to expect.

    Thanks In advance everyone!!!

    Some info...

What is the process for purchasing a firearm in California?
...If the purchaser is not a U.S. Citizen, then he or she is required to demonstrate that he or she is legally within the United States by providing the firearms dealer with documentation containing his/her Alien Registration Number or I-94 Number...
Also, see the Fed form 4473

Have her answer the questions and see what that tells her. Also, just call up your local FFL and ask, if no one chimes in here.

Here's what looks like an informative thread from the buyers perspective: [guide] purchasing a firearm as a non-immigrant resident alien (eg H1 or L1 visa)

        Huh? Provide all of what?

To be able to answer this question with something resembling a decent answer, she needs to identify her immigration status (which she knows, but you're answering for her and aren't sure). I'm guessing she's an "alien admitted to the US under a immigrant visa" which generally means she may not purchase a firearm. Unless she falls within the exceptions under question 12 on the form 4473.

        Read the thread dude!

OP, your friend girlfriend status is defered deportation. She got it through Obama immigration program that give temporary relief from deportation, by law she is still illegal alien. She must be enter this country illegally when she was young. The program is just temporary, it may extended additional 2 years and it happened by executive order.
What she got is not work visa but employment authorization. Bottom lane, she is not a green card holder. Her status is illegal alien who enrolled in defered deportation program.

I don't think she can legally purchase firearm.

Oh, if that's the case then, yeah, no.

OT, hey teg33, where can I find more info about this program? Can you link me or give citation?

Friend basically deported herself (Mexico) to clear up her immigration status from there. She's working the process but it's sloooooooooooow, plus I think she has a greasy POS lawyer working for her. I'm wondering if she tried this program and if not why.

Thank you both. Looked up DACA, she wouldn't have qualified. Too bad, good lady, now she's stuck.
