    Interesting article: complexity of .22 LR manufacture

    .22 LR cartridges are more complex to manufacture than centerfire ammunition.

    Aside from the now established agreement on the shortages - self inflicted - there is another significant barrier in increasing production.

    Complexity of manufacturing the .22 LR

    I was looking for an answer to why the MFR's weren't investing more money in .22 LR since the demand is unlikely to decrease.

    Old news to some but I found this enlightening.

      I guess this is why we don't reload .22..................and its cheap price point

                      So since 1871 we/they have not been able to perfect the manufacturing process to the extent that it is not so difficult? Somebody is not trying very hard.

                          Yup. The profit margin on rimfire is not very much.
