Was looking for an off-roster handgun on GunBroker recently. Asked a few sellers, if they would be willing to ship the gun to my FFL in CA, if he accepts it. I would pay in full, no return policy, etc. One of the sellers rejected with explanation it would be illegal for them to ship it to CA. Got into a very polite discussion, tried to fill in the gaps and show different scenarios, showing it wasn't illegal. They stood their grounds, cool. Then, all of a sudden on of them exploded. Here is the exact quote

Arrogant Californians are another reason FFL's refuse to ship anything to your once great state. Go harass someone else into selling you a firearm. You leftist Democrats will stop at nothing in your assault on the 2nd Ammendment. Including setting up FFL's one at a time. You have affirmed my decision to refuse sales to California.

Which I replied with

It's a very nice and polite way to talk to a new customer, I should say. I can rest assure you I'll let my pro-2A folks to know about your arrogance and disrespect.

And he continued with

Nothing like that exists in California....comrade

The best I can do is to share it with you, my non-existent comrades LOL
On a serious note, I am going to boycott their business. Too bad, it's veteran's owned company in GA. I believe it could hardly be used as excuse for such a *****ty attitude.

Business owner rejecting a sale (and potential repeat customer)? Brilliant! Word of mouth is very powerful and I suspect known CA friendly firearms dealers get tons of business via referrals. I know I've patronized dealers after hearing about a willingness to work with us here, and I've referred others to the same dealers for the same reason.

That is not a good way to run a business. His policy is fine but his attitude is awful especially when communicating with potential customers.

As far as not selling to California, i don't really blame him. With so many laws that are in the grey area and constantly changing you'd need to follow our courts or have a lawyer on staff to make sure you're not breaking a law or doing something that'll cause a potential lawsuit. I work in construction and i sometimes feel that we need a lawyer close by for all of the hoops we have to jump through to keep everything legit. We're way over regulated here in CA, its tough for business owners.

Regardless of the roster it is legal to ship nearly any semi-auto pistol to a FFL. Let them deal with it if they can't SSE. It shouldn't be up to him to worry about difficulty in making a sale after the legal transaction on his end.

I don't see how it substantiates a cocky attitude and disrespect. I have no problem with the business policy, but insulting the entire community is hardly an appropriate behavior. Like another seller took my explanation in the consideration, informed they would continue researching it, but politely stood their grounds. I have absolutely no issue with such a business.

SSE, but it doesn't matter for the purpose of shipment, considering I have my FFL's acceptance. Many FFL buy it from out of state, for both SSE and LEO sales.
