    Gun Show

    Hello all.

Please could you give me some advise, I went to the gun show at the Cow Palace earlier this month, everyone said how bad it was, as I am new to shooting, I didn't know what to expect, so now I am thinking of going to Reno this year, I am looking for cheap ammo, and I think I might get into reloading, I have seen 2 shows in Reno advertised on the internet, which one do you think is best, or recommend.

Your local Reno gun show has hundreds of tables with something for everyone. Book your tickets online and get ready to shop at the next Big Reno Show.

or, is there another one you would say is better??

    Thank you all in advance.

    Regards

    Martin

IMO....as the name implies the big reno show....well....is bigger .........
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered....

3.)Remember...Buy it cheap & stack it deep

      Cheakskate's Reno Show

I have been to the Big Reno Show, which is held in the Hilton. It's much nicer than the Cow Palace show and there are a lot of stuff to buy, especially if you are getting into reloading. Now I'm a cheapskate and don't want to pay for all the gas to get there and back, and rack up wear and tear on my beat up old car. So, I just buy one of those $35 tickets on a gambling junket tour bus and read a book while someone else drives. They even give you $10 for gambling and a few dollars credit for food. The layover at the casino is ~7 hours, plenty of time to get over to the gun show, buy, browse, and fondle things, then get back to the casino to take the bus to the next stop on the junket. You'll get back to the bay area late at night, but you can sleep on the bus.

        Sorry,

We, ( that's the Royal We ) are planning a weekend trip to Reno this year, I just thought by coincidence, it might correspond with a gun show, the wife and the boy can go off and have a look at the hotels, I can wander round the show, I just didn't know which one.

        Thanks for the input.

It looks like the BIG show for now.

        Cheers

        Martin

I just came back from the Glendale show. I only live about 20 miles away and this was my first gun show so it wasn't bad at all. I do plan on going to the Costa Mesa show also.

Guns were still expensive but some shotguns were decently priced. Today I just picked up targets, ammo, and a gun bag. Couldn't pick up a pistol because my 1 gun per month limit was just used and I pick up my new gun after Memorial Day.

The Big Reno Gun Show is the one to go to. I went for the first time this year and thought it was awesome. There is lots of stuff at this show. I wish the shows in Nor Cal were as nice. Worth the trip in my opinion.

                  Great......

On the next Big Reno Show, there's going to be a bunch of buses half full of seniors and gruffy guys in Marpat BDUs.

                  Now that's a scary thought.

Yeah thats actually an interesting idea, I would imagine the bus is filled with chatty retired senior citizens itching to play bingo but if you don't mind that I don't see why not. My only question is don't they watch you to make sure your actually gambling at the agreed upon Casino and not running about hitting gun shows?

how about if a bunch of us from the bay area got together and filled one of those buses with just us. that would seem like a fun trip. im sure the conversation on the bus woudnt involve bingo.

You don't think the bus driver is going to smell fish when the entire bus filled with an unusual crowd of gun enthusiasts empty out the bus and head towards the big yellow "Gun Show" sign? He'll probably leave us all there.

Maybe those old timers on the bus will have some great WWII, Korea or Vietnam stories.

Lol, just take the Greyhound. Like $25 round trip from Downtown SF and drops you off in downtown Reno. Just cab over to the Hilton and make it a weekend.
