    Shooting on Private Property

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere in this forum, however I've done my searching and can't find anything. Figured I'd ask, seeing as trying to read County Ordinancs is like doing Chinese Algebra- to me at least.

My family owns approximately 80 acres west of Mojave, CA. Rather than call the County Sheriff office and bring attention to the property, I'd like to ask if anyone here has general knowledge on the legality of shooting on private land in Kern Country. I have an understanding on the general basics, not shooting over hwy's, shooting within certian distance of dwelling structures (which if any and there's not, would be family owned as well), proper back stops, etc.

    Thanks...

I would call the Sheriff first, because if you get bad or good advice here, the first people that are going to visit you when you start shooting will be the Sheriff. If its outside a city limits it should be legal but if someone calls and complains, they will be out there.

+1, that's all you need to do.

And most of the time they will show just so the RP's are satisfied. We have had the SO show up one time, they told us that right off the bat and actually were interested in some of our gear and watched us shoot for a min before leaving very slowly and conspicuously.
