    Hearing protection

What do you think about the custom made ear plugs at the gun shows. Are they worth the money and do they work better that the ear muffs.

If your shooting competitions for Big $$$$$
    There worth a look

Anything else, get a good set of electronic ears.

      Yes, they work very well.

A good friend of mine is one of the guys who makes them at the shows in So Cal.

If you're in or near OC I can give you his info so you don't have to wait for the next show.

I'm thinking about having him make me a 2nd set with built in speakers because I have yet to find earbuds that will actually stay in my ears.

If your sponsor is paying for your ammo and ear plugs sure! I stick to my Peltor Shotgunners and big O'l box of foam plugs that I always get dirt cheap and use that fancy pants $$ on ammo/clays/range time.

I know lots of guys in USPSA and 3 gun that like them, but then there are just as many guys running electronic ears. I personally like the Peltor Tac 6's, about $55. You can't hear as good with fitted plugs, but then they are not as bulky or hot in the summer.

I don't like the feel of over-the-head ear protection... so I am currently using Surefire EP-3s and they work pretty well

These would work for trap but that is about it. Never in a indoor range and wouldn't be sufficient for most outdoor range applications besides .22lr. There will always be someone shooting a big bore in another lane, especially when you got the big wheel guns and big rifles like Mosins going off . I have to double up or I don't feel protected enough. Hearing is something I'd rather waste on loud music, not loud gunfire.

I have a couple sets of those. They are great and I'll probably never use the foam ones, or over the ears again. soo much more comfortable!

Are you wearing them properly? Proper size? I've never had any issues with mine, never need to double up.

The pair I have work great, use them especially shooting long guns. Seems my ears are too low and even low profile electronic muffs hit the stock and lift off as I aim. For handguns I sometimes double up with muffs but this time of year more to keep warm than add noise protection.

Custom molded are great. No waiting for the foamies to expand and no bulk from big ear cups. I wear mine under my m/c helmet, too to cut down on wind noise.
