    Looking for a rifle/ar questions

    Hi Cal gunners,
I had a question. I have been looking at rifles for range shooting and maybe a hog hunt one day. Or a flash zombie invasion. Yes shotguns are best for zombies, but I want a rifle. Now I am open to suggestions. I have looked at a ruger 308 center rifle or a ar 15. Now Base Im looking at spending 1000 max. Why? because my wife would kill me if I spent anything more. I have pretty much put that much aside cash. So extras are welcome ,but what would you guys recommend? I have fired both in the past.
So Im a handgun guy wanting a rifle. I want something with a cartridge that I do not have to put one bullet in everytime I shoot.

For me, the AR platform is second to none..You can have one lower and attach 223/556,204 ruger, 300 blackout,22lr, 762x39.6.8 spc & i'm probably missing a couple of uppers too... It's like Leggos' for guys!!!

My advice is to buy a striped AR lower and build it from a lower parts kit.

Then just buy whatever Upper receiver you desire. Simple and will be in your budget with money left over for ammo.

      Good luck

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

Not really, some uppers go for $1000. And you can easily spend $500 building a lower.
