Cleaning guns

I'm using ballistol to clean my guns. 1) is this the best product to use? 2) how long am i supposed to let it sit before i wipe it down?

There are as many opinions about cleaning products are there are about guns in general. I like Ballistol, my son hates it, simply a matter of preference. There will be a lot of ' xx sucks', 'yy is the only thing that works'.

Spray and soak the barrel, set it aside, clean the rest of the gun, clean the barrel, inspect barrel, clean again if necessary, done. You can't pick a magic time.

Okay cool. I just wanted to make sure that letting it sit for a few minutes wouldn't cause the gun harm, as I've heard that the stuff is corrosive on some materials.
