Dumbfounded and Bewildered

So I came across this about twenty min ago thought I might share cuz through me through a loop.

I had purchased some rebuild kits (well before January for all those who like to chime in with there vast knowledge of the law)and decided to rebuild the mags that they where purchased for.

I then went to load the them to get ready for this weekend as I planned on going to the range with them.
I get to the last one and need to open another box of ammo which started my whole befuddle. (I have everything set up to work with even numbers only so should not have had to open another box)

So I am thinking since I am sitting in my bedroom I dropped them. I searched the entire bedroom and found nothing.
Now I am getting a little upset cuz I grabbed brand new unopened boxes.I start thinking maybe I put them on the wrong side of the shelf.(but I am to paranoid and conscientious with my gun safe and everything thats in it.It is how I know if anyone has been in there)

So I call my wife and ask her about being in the safe She said she has not.
She does not lie to me so I start getting the tin foil hat out and assume that has to be it.

I then thought ok just start over I emptied the mags and recounted to find out that each one held one extra round.

I checked again and again and low and behold they really hold one extra round .

Has anyone ever came across this before or is this an oddity and should I be kicking my own @$$ for not getting more.
Oh its a result from top plastic tray having to short of lips on the side I checked with couple other ones.

I understood most of what you wrote.... If they're metal mags, it's not unusual, but I wouldn't load the +1 as it can very likely cause a feeding issue

I'm guessing they were AR mags...?

Some of my mags will hold 31 but as stated it can cause a seating issue . My Ruger factory sr9 mags will all hold 11 rounds and feed but they are a pain to seat.
